Pirates Shut Out Saginaw To Win Season Opener

The Granbury Pirates shut out the Saginaw Rough Riders 26-0 in the football season opener on August 27, 2010.

The opening game victory marked the first since 2006, and the shutout was the first since a 44-0 drubbing of Fort Worth Paschal in September 2004.

Tyler Jones had a pair of first-quarter rushing touchdowns. Those were followed by a third rushing score by Ulysses Wideman early in the second quarter.

Quarterback Tyler Dixson completed 11 of 15 passes for 228 yards, including a third-quarter 44-yard throw to receiver Tyler Wright that resulted in the final score of the night.

The Pirates next host the Bobcats from Northwest Byron Nelson at Johnny Perkins Field on Friday, September 3 beginning at 7:30 P.M. For a complete schedule, go to www.granburyisd.org/piratefootball.
