Acton Class Wins Kidd Kraddick Musical Contest

A fourth grade class at Acton Elementary School put their singing skills to the test – and won first place in a musical contest sponsored by Kidd Kraddick.

The class, which is taught by Shanna McPherson, was one of three first-place winners in the contest sponsored by “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning,” a Las Colinas-based morning radio show hosted by nationally-syndicated host Kidd Kraddick.

The Acton students won the top prize for kindergarten through fourth grade will receive $1,500 for a classroom makeover.

For the contest, students across the nation were challenged to perform “an original Glee-esque musical number” and upload the video to YouTube. Radio listeners were asked to vote for their favorite. Grand prizes were awarded to entries in three categories: grades kindergarten-4, grades 5-8, and grades 9-12.

In addition to his radio program, Kraddick founded a charitable organization – Kidd’s Kids – in 1991 to make a difference in the lives of children with special medical needs.
